Consistent community engagement is a defining factor of Gilbreath’s longevity and record of achievement. We remain committed to supporting and encouraging others in the greater community — in our own Gilbreath way.

Our Industry Impact

  • Established an endowment for communications students at Grambling State University (GSU)

  • Provide scholarships through the AEFH designated for HBCU students in industry related fields

  • Provide a student internship each year to a minority student

  • Created our first faculty internship in 2019 by hosting a GSU faculty member

  • Annually host 10-12 students at the agency during the AAF Student Conference & Competition Week

  • Launched the first AAF/HBCU Student Ad Club on Texas Southern University’s campus

  • Participate in speaking engagements at various universities (Grambling State University, Texas Southern University and the University of Southern California)

Our Entrepreneurial Impact

Since 2016, Gilbreath has been a year-long mentor in the Interagency Mentor-Protegé program (City of Houston, Metro, Houston First, HISD, and HCC), mentoring one to two minority companies per year.

Gilbreath has also given numerous talks and participated in panels and formal/informal discussions regarding owning, marketing and branding for various business organizations and groups for entrepreneurs, including:

Gilbreath Communications has always been a consistent supporter of community-based organizations dedicated to professional development, academic excellence, racial equality, improved health care and cultural appreciation and enrichment.

Throughout the company’s history, Gilbreath Communications has produced and helped launch major campaigns in health and wellness, public safety, entertainment and other important initiatives.

1990

Promoted financial services to minority markets assisting several banks with meeting their CRA requirements (Chase, First Interstate, First Commercial, Omni Bank)

1996

Helped Magic Johnson break records with AMC Theaters by selling out every seat for the first time in AMC history when he opened in Houston

2000

Launched a national campaign with NHTSA to educate AA on seatbelt safety

2005

Developed multiple Supplier Diversity comms to support the drive to inform and secure minority suppliers (Shell, CenterPoint, Marathon Oil, Waste Mgmt, Enron, ConAgra Foods)

2007

Launched the region’s first Disaster Preparedness Campaign “Ready Houston” through the Mayor’s office of Homeland Security

2012

Developed and launched one of the nation’s first Active Shooter training videos for corporations (Run, Hide, Fight)

2018

Developed and launched the City of Houston’s first HIV Campaign (I AM Life) promoting PrEP and treatment as prevention (TASP)

2019

Selected by the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) to be the AA market’s national media buying agency to help get Democratic candidates elected to the US House of Representatives in the 2020 elections

2020

Created and executed two diverse COVID-19 vaccine PSA campaigns for the City of Houston Mayor’s Office “Vaccine Conversations” and the Houston Health Department “Take Your Best Shot” 

2020

Developed and launched the state’s first-ever congenital syphilis prevention initiative, the “My Prenatal Promise” PSA Campaign for the Houston Health Department
